To Our Japan Crate Family,
We wanted to share some important information and updates regarding how we’re shipping your crates during the current pandemic.
Due to the COVID-19, we’ve had to make frequent changes to our shipping operations. Keeping up with these changes can be hard so we put together some answers to the most frequently asked questions.
Temporary Shipping Fee
Our normal shipping partner, Japan Post, abruptly suspended operations as a result of the ongoing health crisis, so we’ve had to temporarily partner with new shipping services in order to continue shipping crates.
This new shipping service is a bit more expensive and as a small business, we are asking our subscribers to help support us by covering half the cost of shipping costs. Please know this shipping fee is temporary so that we can continue to ship your crates and will no longer be needed once Japan Post resumes normal operations.
For those who are currently subscribed to our crates, your subscription will renew with the shipping fee cost already applied. For new subscribers, you will see the shipping fee during the checkout process.
April 2020 Crates
While all of April’s crates were shipped accordingly with their scheduled shipping waves, we’re sad to say a large number of April’s crates were returned to our fulfillment center due to Japan Post being unable to ship them.
In order to ship and deliver April Crates, we have to use the new shipping method previously mentioned. Since we cannot cover the entirety of the new shipping cost, we are in the process of charging subscribers whose April crates were returned to our warehouse, a shipping fee. This charge will be applied automatically to the payment method we have on file; no action is needed on your end.
For those who have already paid the April crate shipping fee, your April crate will be re-shipped soon. Once the crate has re-shipped, you will be notified by email.
If you have an active gift subscription, your crates will be safely stored and shipped as soon as Japan Post operations have returned to normal. You will not be charged a shipping fee and thus we cannot currently ship your crates. The first crates to be affected by this change are April, May, June, and onward until shipping operations normalize at Japan Post.
Note: If you’d like to pay the temporary shipping fee of $10.95 for DHL Global Express 3-5 day shipping, please email us at [email protected] and let us know.
If you currently have an existing 3, 6, or 12-month prepaid plan you will automatically be charged the necessary shipping fee each month as needed in order to ship your next crate. Please note that the shipping fee is temporary and will no longer be needed once Japan Post operations normalize.
Fees will start being charged as of April 2020.
